Manchester City meet Aston Villa on Sunday wanting to right the wrongs of last weekend's defeat away against Tottenham Hotspur.
That loss against Spurs ended a three-match winning streak which was the perfect reaction to their defeat in last month's Manchester derby at Old Trafford and the Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Southampton. Much the same is required against Villa, especially with the much-anticipated first Premier League meeting of the season with Arsenal looming in midweek.
Added incentive should also be drawn from City only drawing with these opponents in the reverse fixture at Villa Park last September. Steven Gerrard was still in the home dugout for that fixture, meaning Pep Guardiola will be facing their new head coach Unai Emery for the first time in four years.
