Ireland travel to face Italy as the Six Nations resumes in Rome this afternoon.

Andy Farrell’s side arrive at the Stadio Olimpico as overwhelming favourites to take another big step towards a first Grand Slam title since 2018.

Ireland are soaring after brushing aside defending champions France in a titanic clash of the world’s top-ranked international teams in Dublin a fortnight ago, following up that dismantling of troubled Wales on opening day.

The Men in Green continue to lay down serious markers ahead of the Rugby World Cup after a historic series win on New Zealand soil last summer and autumn victories over the likes of South Africa and Australia, with Italy facing a daunting task to try and halt their incredible momentum.

After their own encouraging 2022 that included shock upsets of Wales and the Wallabies, the Azzurri arguably should have beaten France on home soil in round one of this tournament before falling late on in valiant fashion.

However, Kieran Crowley’s men were well off the pace for the majority of their 31-14 defeat by England at Twickenham before the first fallow week and won’t want to take any further steps back here.
