Both teams are unbeaten in the tournament so far, with Pakistan beating the Netherlands and then the United States and India beating the US and Namibia.
That leaves them level on four points in Group A, with India top due to their superior net run rate of +3.050 to Pakistan’s +0.932.
On cricketing merit, the rivalry has been one-sided. Defending T20 world champions India have a 7-1 record against Pakistan in the tournament's history and have won 13 of the 16 T20 internationals between the countries.
India underlined dominance at last year's Asia Cup in the United Emirates when they beat Pakistan three times in that single event, including a stormy final marred by provocative gestures and snubbed handshakes.
India appear to hold a clear edge, with opener Abhishek Sharma and spinner Varun Chakravarthy currently top the batting and bowling rankings respectively.
For Pakistan, opener Sahibzada Farhan has looked in fine but Babar Azam's strike rate continues to polarise opinion.
