Manchester City have the chance to respond in the Premier League title race when they face Everton tonight.
Since beating Burnley 1-0 on April 22 to go top of the table, Man City have secured a place in the FA Cup final but have seen Arsenal play twice and win twice to reclaim top spot.
As a result, Pep Guardiola’s side trail the Gunners by six points ahead of making their first-ever trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Crucially though, Man City tick off the first of their two games in hand tonight and playing twice before Arsenal are next in action means they will return to the summit by beating Everton and then Brentford on Saturday by a combined four-goal margin.
That said, the hosts have their own targets which makes this a difficult fixture for City. Everton’s form may have dropped off slightly since beating Chelsea before the international break, but they are firmly in the hunt for European qualification.
Results over the weekend mean the Toffees begin their penultimate home game of the season in the bottom half of the table but will move to within two points of sixth-placed Bournemouth with a win tonight.
