After three weeks of training camp practices, the Indianapolis Colts will open up the preseason on Sunday afternoon (1:00 PM ET) against the Denver Broncos at Luas Oil Stadium.
Following Friday’s practice, head coach Shane Steichen announced that most of the Colts’ starters would play for a series or two. As far as what Steichen wants to see from his team, communication will be at a premium.
“I think that’s the biggest thing (communication),” said Steichen about what he wants to see in the first preseason game. “It is. It’s really communication at the end of the day. If we’re all on the same page, you know what I mean, everyone’s on the same page, that’s when you operate at a high level because you’ve got to have all 11 on the same page.
“If one guy is off, bad things happen. So the communication piece, we keep working on that and once we get to Week 1, we got to be at a high level.”
Locally, the game will be aired on Fox59 with Greg Rakestraw doing the play-by-play, Rick Venturi will be the analyst, and Larra Overton on the sidelines. For out of market fans, the game will be televised nationally on NFL Network.
Radio coverage of the game will be on 93.5 / 107.5 The Fan, 97.1 HANK and Ascension St Vincent Radio Network or on Colts.com.
International fans in Germany and Austria will be able to stream the game on Colts.com.
In the preseason, these games are much less about the Xs and Os matchup between the two teams and more so about the internal competitions that are taking place.
