How to talk to someone who is grieving: a mother who lost her son explains

Katja Faber, the mother of Alex Morgan, shares a personal story about her son's homicide in Switzerland - (Ana Suanes)

December marked 10 years since my son, Alex Morgan, was killed — the subject of the Standard's powerful new true-crime podcast, (In)Justice: Killer Privilege, episode one of which was released on The Standard daily podcast last night.

The six-part series recently reached number two in the Apple Podcasts charts and was splashed across a giant billboard in New York’s Times Square, which Alex would have loved. The summer before he died, he sat in the garden and stated with great bravado: "When I die, I want it to be BIG!... BIG!", extending his arms outward towards the sky in a show of how impactful he wanted his death to be. My poor darling, he never imagined why or how this would come to be, but I hope that wherever he is, he is smiling.
