When is the Royal Rumble 2024?

The 2024 Royal Rumble will be streaming live on Peacock for U.S. viewers this Saturday, January 27 at 8 p.m. EST. International audiences can stream the show on the WWE Network. The 37th annual premium live event takes place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida with a capacity of over 40,000 people.

What time does the Royal Rumble start?

The 2024 Royal Rumble will officially get underway at 8 p.m. EST. You can expect a pre-show event also streaming on Peacock with exclusive analysis, match predictions, and more to get fans at home excited for one of WWE’s biggest shows of the year.

What is the Royal Rumble?

Often referred to as the first stop on the Road to WrestleMania, the Royal Rumble is one of WWE’s oldest and most beloved live events. Created by WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson in 1987, the marquee match of the show involves 30 wrestlers entering the ring in 90-second intervals trying to throw each other over the top rope. The last man standing gets to choose which world champion he wants to face on the Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania. That means the winner will either face the Undisputed champion Roman Reigns or the World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. The show has also featured a women’s Royal Rumble match since 2018, with the winner of that match getting to challenge for either the Women’s World Championship (currently held by Rhea Ripley) or the WWE Women’s Championship (currently held by Iyo Sky).

There are plenty of WWE superstars set to run out in both Royal Rumble matches. The women’s match will feature former Women’s Champion Bayley, the 2019 rumble match winner Becky Lynch and the 2021 rumble match winner Bianca Belair, both of whom went on to main event WrestleMania and won championships in those respective years. The men’s match will feature last year’s Rumble winner Cody Rhodes, current Intercontinental Champion Gunther, and former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston. It’ll also be the official WWE premium live event return of CM Punk, the controversial former WWE Champion whose last major WWE appearance was at the 2014 Royal Rumble before infamously walking out on the company over booking disagreements with then-Chairman Vince McMahon. Punk returned to WWE last November after being fired from rival promotion All Elite Wrestling in September over a backstage altercation during that company’s All In pay per view at Wembley Stadium in London.

How to stream the Royal Rumble

U.S. wrestling fans can watch the 2024 Royal Rumble exclusively on Peacock. International fans will still be using the WWE Network to watch the premium live event. Peacock is available for as low as $5.99 a month for the Premium plan or $11.99 a month for Premium Plus, which offers ad-free streaming and the ability to download select titles. If you sign up for the annual Premium payment plan of $59.99 a year, that pricing is 17 percent cheaper than paying the monthly Premium fee for a year. There is also an annual plan for the Premium Plus tier at $119.99 a year, which is cheaper than doing the monthly plan for a year (which adds up to $143.88). Both plans get you access not only to this year’s Rumble, but all the previous Royal Rumble shows and a plethora of other WWE shows and documentaries.

This year might be the last time Peacock subscribers can watch the Royal Rumble, what with the recently-announced $5 billion partnership between Netflix and TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company. That major deal means “Monday Night Raw,” WWE’s flagship weekly TV show currently airing on the USA Network, will be streaming live for Netflix subscribers in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Latin America starting in 2025. According to the press release, this partnership will eventually lead to Netflix being the exclusive home of WWE’s premium live events for subscribers outside the U.S. starting next year. That includes both the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. While there’s no word on whether WWE’s other events and shows will also jump to Netflix for U.S. subscribers, it’s worth noting that WWE’s current deal with Peacock is reportedly set to end in 2026. Sign up for Peacock today and get ready to rumble!
