Blue Monday is said to be 'the saddest day of the year' - and it just so happens to be today.
Falling on the third Monday in January, people often find themselves feeling down in the dumps over a range of factors, including the weather, debt, the failure of New Year resolutions and the fact Christmas is well and truly over.
But today Funky Pigeon is offering customers the chance to cheer someone up by sending them a free card.
After a tough two years with the pandemic, with many people feeling isolated or having lost loved ones, it’s important to check up on friends and family during for what many can be miserable month.
The online card and gift retailer are giving customers the chance to send out a free A6 ‘thinking of you’ card which can even be personalised with the recipient's name or even a photo.
All they need to do is select one of the 1,000 cards on offer, personalise it and add it to their basket, using the code BLUEMONDAY at the checkout.
The offer is available all week, from today until 11.59pm on Friday, January 21 - limited to one card per customer, covering their own postage cost.
Kate Escott, head of product at Funky Pigeon said: “January is renowned for being a difficult month for many, winter is in full swing meaning many aren’t getting out as much and as a result not getting their daily dose of Vitamin D.
“It is important that we remember to check up on our loved ones this month and a card through the door showing you are thinking of them will no doubt brighten their day.
“Blue Monday isn’t the only day people are sad and should be thought of, it should instead act as a reminder that January is hard for many and we should all do our best to be there for others and be a positive influence in someone’s life.”
If you can think of more than one person you want to send a card to this week, customers can also support a mental health charity with their purchase, after having sent their freebie.
Funky Pigeon has a range of encouragement and happiness cards that let your loved ones know you are thinking of them and cheering them up during the bluest of days, while also donating a percentage of the sale to a mental health charity.
The collection features over 40 cards with messages such as ‘I’m Here For You No Matter What’ and ‘Your Now Is Not Your Forever’ and many more.
From this range, 30% of the sales is donated to the MQ Mental Health Research charity, meaning you will be doing two good deeds with one kind gesture.
