How to see a post you liked on Instagram

Instagram is one of the world’s most popular mobile applications, and has become the go-to place for many of us to share photos and videos with friends and family. Millions of users take to the app every day to see what their favourite celebs have been up to or to post cute snaps of their furry friends.

Now owned by Facebook’s parent company Meta, Instagram boasts almost 1.5bn users worldwide each month, according to market and consumer data company Statista. Sometimes you may wish to find an old post you interacted with, but with so many users on the app posting so much content every day, this can be quite a task.

Simply scrolling through your Instagram feed to find one particular post could take forever – if you even manage to find it. Thankfully, there is a quick and easy way to find posts you interacted with in just a few easy steps.

This feature used to be accessed via Instagram’s settings menu, but it was moved to a different area of the app earlier this year. Here, we explain how to find posts you have liked on Instagram.

To find posts you have previously liked – as well as those you have commented on – first, you must open the Instagram app and go to your profile. To do this, simply tap the small icon showing your profile picture in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Once on your own profile, you must press the menu icon in the top-right corner of the screen – this is represented by a column of three horizontal lines. This will open a pop-up menu where you will see the second option on the list after ‘Settings’ is ‘Your activity’.

Tapping ‘Your activity’ will take you to a new screen where you can see how much time you spend on Instagram, a history of the changes you have made to your account, and ‘Interactions’. If you tap ‘Interactions’ a new menu will open where you can see any posts you have liked, commented on, your replies to other user’s Instagram Stories and any reviews you have submitted.

Tapping ‘Likes’ on this new menu will bring up every Instagram post you have liked in order of newest to oldest. Here, you can open a particular post and remove the like if needed, comment on the post, or share it with another user.

You can also filter the posts in several ways, including by rearranging them from oldest to newest, by author – in other words, only show posts from a particular Instagram profile – and by setting a date range for the posts you see. Another useful feature on the ‘Likes’ screen allows you to select multiple posts at once and unlike them without even accessing the posts.

To do this, simply tap ‘Select’ in the top-right of the screen and then tap each post you wish to unlike. A blue checkmark will then appear on each post you select.

When you have selected all the posts you want to unlike simply tap ‘Unlike’ towards the bottom of the screen. Your like will then be removed from each post you have selected.

Here, we explain what the order of your Instagram Stories viewers means.
