How to nail the fox-eye and almond shaped eye makeup looks

It is essential to understand these shapes so as to accurately draw the liner to mimic the almond and fox eye. The almond shape sits on a horizontal line and is oval shape where the inner corner is tilted downwards and is soft. Almond-shaped corners are rounded at both - the inner and outer corner and the top lid doesn't have too much of an arch. Dress the inner part of the inner corner with a black gel and follow the round shape of the tear duct. It should be a soft black line and not a hard one. You can also play around with dark hues like brown or dark grey; it’s not essential to stick to blacks.

Lower lashline: Draw a dark Brown line and smoke it so there's a hint of the line without it being stark. Round off the upper outer and lower outer corner with a soft liner and smoke it. To enhance the look you can take a black and rim the upper lid to add softness and a very slight roundness to the almond shape. Do not use any sharp liner to this look. Fill the lid with nude or soft taupe colors.

.

Fox Eye: The Fox Eye is a strong look with sharper lines. It is not a sleeping line but a diagonal line. The inner corner is stark and is drawn like the sharp beak of a bird and tilted down. While the outer upper corner is extended and tilted up. Remember the Fox eye look is not a wide eyed look unlike the almond eye.

To achieve the sharper fox eye, apply a very thin black liner on the inner corner but not on the inside of the tear duct, instead just hugging the outside of the inner corner and drawing a sharp tilt like that of a bird’s beak.

Draw with a pencil first to outline so that you are more comfortable with achieving the shape and once you have got the shape right then you can take a black liquid and go on it for the correct position. Now sharpen this shape by using a foundation and cut it on the outside to give you that perfect cat eye tilt. The Fox eye look is similar to cat-eye look.

To enhance the tilt and shape, avoid drawing a liner on the top lash line and instead use a liquid liner only towards the outer upper corner of upper lid.

The Fox eye look is an exaggerated look with lots of drama. Liners come in metallic black, Matt and shiny textures. Any texture will do depending on the feel one wants to achieve although the Matt texture may soften the fox eye.

For more drama a little glitter or shimmer can be worn in the inner corner to accentuate the corner. A pale or even a white colour eye shadow will work. Apply mascara. To make the lashes appear longer, apply loads of mascara towards the outer corner complementing the Fox eye look.

Mascara for the almond eyes must be applied to the roots in a zig zag motion to create a softer look.

The Fox eye look is all about 'drama' and the Almond eye look is all about romanticism.
