"There is no clear reason why some people develop bowel cancer while others don’t,” explained Catherine Winsor, director of services at Bowel Cancer UK.
“But certain factors increase your risk.”
Age is one. “While the vast majority of those with bowel cancer are aged 50 or over, a significant number (around 2,600) of younger people under 50 are diagnosed every year,” she says.
