
A colossal pumpkin, weighing nearly as much as a small car, has secured third place in a prestigious annual weigh-off, thanks to the meticulous care of its owner, Tony Scott. For months, Mr Scott, a semiconductor engineer from upstate New York, diligently nurtured the gargantuan gourd in his backyard.
He regularly fertilised it and covered it nightly to maintain a stable temperature, using a measuring tape to estimate its rapid growth. "I've never seen anything grow this fast," Mr Scott remarked.
