How to get tickets to Eurovision, how much they cost and when they might go on sale

With the UK set to host next year's Eurovision song contest, many Brits will be rushing to get their hands on some of tickets.

Seven of Britain's biggest cities have been competing to host the 67th contest - Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, and Sheffield. And today, that list is expected to be slimmed down even further.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday morning, presenter Sally Nugent teased an upcoming update from the BBC. She told viewers: "Later on today we are expecting an update from the BBC” - but she did not provide any further information on what might be announced.

It's expected that people who want to see the competition live will be able to purchase tickets for a total of nine shows. In previous years, there has been a Jury Show, a Family Show, and a Live TV Show for each stage of the finals.

By the end of today, we should be even closer to knowing which of Britain's cities will be granted the honour of hosting the Eurovision song contest. Once we know which city and venue will host the shows, we should know even more about ticket prices, availability, and ticket providers.

While the actual contest is still a while away, it's always a good idea to try and grab some tickets ASAP as they usually sell out very quickly. Here's everything we know so far about Eurovision tickets.

How to get a Eurovision 2023 ticket

Not many details surrounding next year's events have yet been released. The date for when ticket sales go live is unlikely to be revealed until the host city has been announced.

However, we can still speculate around what period of 2023 the tickets will go on sale, giving fans time to prepare and reserve their seats at the song contest. Tickets for the Eurovision 2022 song contest, held in Turin in Italy, went on sale on Thursday, April 7, at 9am British time. However, in previous years, tickets have gone on sale as early as November and December the previous year.

Last year, Italian ticket website TicketOne had the latest updates on ticket sales for the various shows. But, we'll have to wait and see which UK sites serve as official ticket outlets for next year's event.

Which shows can you buy tickets for?

Last year, tickets were available for live shows, jury shows and family shows. There are three nights of live shows, all of which are broadcast on TV, and a jury show 24 hours before each one, which is like a dress rehearsal.

In the afternoon before the shows, there are additional rehearsal shows, which are traditionally affordable shows for families with children. That means that there will likely be nine shows in total that tickets will be available for.

In 2022, the semi-final live shows were on Tuesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 12, and the grand final live show was on Saturday, May 14.

How much do Eurovision tickets cost?

During Eurovision 2022, tickets ranged from as cheap as €20 euros all the way up to €350, depending on which show you attended and where you sat.

For example, tickets for the first semi-final rehearsal show were priced between €20 for restricted view seats and €100 for the best seats. For the grand final, you could be looking at €350 for the best seats, or €150 for the cheapest ones.

How many tickets can you buy?

In 2022, people were allowed to purchase a maximum of four tickets together.
