How to get tickets for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar

Preparations are officially underway for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Tickets for the tournament are officially on sale, as fans without tickets have been given an early warning to steer clear of traveling.

The 2022 World Cup will be the first ever to take place in the Arab world. Due to the high temperatures throughout the summer months, the tournament will also be the first ever to take place throughout the English winter.

Senegal and the Netherlands will kick off the tournament at 10am UK time on Monday, November 21. The final will be played on Sunday, December 18.

How to get tickets for the 2022 World Cup

Fans hoping to get their hands on tickets for the tournament need to head to the FIFA ticket portal. 800,000 tickets have already been sold with fans in England among those said to be among the highest uptake.

The second round of tickets have been made available today, April 5. A third 'last minute' round will also be held later this year.

Those among you who are unsuccessful in FIFA's draws may be able to find tickets available on resale sites such as LiveFootballTickets, but you should be advised that prices on such sites are set by the seller and are likely to be higher than their face value.

Prices for the upcoming Qatar World Cup are already said to be the most expensive ever with costs, on average, nearly 50% more than those sold for the last World Cup held in Russia.

Gareth Southgate's England side are among the early favourites for the tournament following their strong showing in last summer's European Championships. Italy, who defeated England in the final, have failed to qualify.

Last week's draw saw The Three Lions drawn against USA and Iran, with the final place in Group B still to be determined.
