As a survival crafting game, Windrose has a couple of materials that are used for everything. One of them is Plant Fiber, used for building, armor crafting, quest progression, and much more, so it’s always worth stocking up on it.
Here’s how to get Plant Fiber in Windrose and how much you can expect to use when you’re just starting out.

How to get Plant Fiber in Windrose

Plant Fiber comes primarily from bushes and ferns growing around the islands. Grab your sword and hit the bushes to get Plant Fiber. Any other tool can also get the job done, but a sword is the fastest. Plant Fiber doesn’t drop from trees, though. Considering you need a lot of Wood and Plant Fiber, take your time to farm both.
How much Plant Fiber do you need in Windrose?

One bush nets around two Plant Fiber, and most early game items need it in one way or another. When you start your adventure, it’s worth gathering at least around 200 Plant Fiber for all the early-game needs, including buildings, armor, and more.
Here are some of the things that require Plant Fiber:
- Floors, walls, and roofs: One to two Plant Fiber per block.
- Coarse Fabric: Three Plant Fiber.
- Bandage: One Coarse Fabric.
- Rope: Three Plant Fiber.
- Tent: 10 Plant Fiber.
Floors, walls, and roofs are the building blocks for your base, and while you might consider living under an open sky during the early game, a roof is required to use some of the workbenches, like the Weaponsmith Workshop or Armor and Clothing Workshop.
One of the items you can craft from Plant Fiber is Coarse Fabric. It’s used to craft and upgrade armor, among other things. Every piece of armor requires two Coarse Fabric to craft and then two more per upgrade. The cost increases as the items go up in rarity, so be aware of that if you come across a blue or better piece of gear.
As you start completing the main quests, you’ll also need 20 pieces of Coarse Fabric and 10 Ropes to repair a shipwreck. This is on top of any other items you decide to craft as you explore the game.
