The Duchess of Sussex always has flawless hair - it somehow manages to look naturally curled while looking ultra glam at the same time. With so many engagements and appearances Meghan Markle always has to look her best, but how does she pull it off?
Well, according to her hair stylist, the secret to her perfect locks can be achieved in three simple steps. According to Vogue, it had been more than two years since the Duchess of Sussex had met with her favourite hairstylist, George Northwood, until recently.
The pandemic kept them, along with many other people, apart but recently their paths were able to cross again. He told Vogue : "The last time [before the Invictus Games 2022] I worked with Harry and Meghan was on the day of the ‘umbrella’ moment [the viral photo of the couple in the rain outside the Endeavour Awards 2020].
“It was an emotional time. I remember being at Buckingham Palace and, at the time, the Invictus Games were planned for the Hague in 2020, so when I said goodbye, it was more of a see you later. Little did we know!”
As you probably know by now, the games actually took place over Easter weekend, two years later than originally anticipated. It's reported that Northwood went up to the couple and “gave them both a cuddle” as soon as he arrived.
The stylist has, in the past, created various looks for Meghan from her gorgeous wedding hair to various other glam looks for her royal tours. Now he's revealed exactly how you can achieve Meghan's gloriously glossy waves that she modelled at the Invictus Games earlier this month.
He told Vogue all it takes is three simple steps to achieve luscious locks.
How do I get the look?
Start with a good blow dry
The hair stylist told Vogue the look he went for was more of a "polished wave", so it's important to dry the hair smoothly as opposed to opting for a rough and ready blow dry.
He told the magazine: "If you’re going for a centre parting, blow dry the front of the hair forward - this creates a sweeping motion when you part it afterwards.”
Go big or go home
When it comes to the tools needed, he said a large-barrel tong is the key to success. He said the best thing to do is take sections of hair and work your way around the head.
To achieve a wave as opposed to a curl, he told Vogue the best thing to do is "tong away from the face at the front of the hair, and focus on the mid-lengths, rather than roots and ends." Once styled it's also good to soften the curls by brushing through the hair with a paddle brush.
Alternatively, you can also smooth through the curls with your fingers.
Make your locks glisten
Northwood said when you're looking to opt for products to enhance your look you should always "focus on shine." He said the best thing to do is look for shine sprays, serums or creams to help smooth the hair.
Not to mention such products will also aid you to achieving that ever so regal glossy finish.
