Copper Ore is one of the first essential metals you encounter in Hytale, and comes in handy for crafting early tools, weapons, armor, and stations like the Blacksmith’s Table and Armorer’s Table.
Copper Ores are found exclusively underground, appearing as reddish-brown blocks embedded in stone walls, and they typically yield two pieces per node. To access them, you need to enter natural caves in the starting forest biome or nearby zones like deserts and mountains.
They start at depths of 15 to 20 blocks, and caves host minor threats like rats, bats, and spiders. With that said, here’s everything you need to know about getting Copper Ore in Hytale.

How to get Copper Ore in Hytale
Before you dive in, you have to get hold of a Crude Pickaxe, as it’s needed to mine Copper in Hytale. To craft a Crude Pickaxe, all you need are some Sticks and Plant Fiber from trees, then collect Rubble from those small pebbles near rocks. Then, head to your crafting menu, follow the recipe, and craft the Pickaxe.

Once that’s done, look for caves around your spawn in the starting forest. These are often tucked into hillsides or valleys, as Hytale hides copper in natural cave systems. Once inside, scan walls for Copper.
You have to look out for the reddish-brown rock cluster or single block with metal bits poking out. Swing your Pickaxe, and each hit will drop Ore right to the ground for pickup. Aim for clusters, as they give multiple pieces fast. Stock up on 10 to 15 before heading back. Remember, caves have moving bats or spiders that can prove to be minor threats during mining.
Best places to get Copper Ore in Hytale
Here are some of the best places to get Copper Ore in Hytale:
- Starting Forest Caves: Easiest access, tons of copper close to spawn
- Desert (Howling Sands): South maps, check cliffs and caves for surface-level veins too
- Snow Biome Cliffs: Rare surface finds, but caves below deliver
While you’re on your journey to mine ores, do bring a chest to store hauls, cooked food for generating health, and a horse for quick escapes. Try to farm at night when mobs are less disturbing, but light up everything. In case you’re low on fuel, burn some extra Wood into Charcoal first.
How to make Copper Ingots in Hytale

When you’re back at your base, craft a Furnace at your table using six Tree Trunks and six Stones. Fuel it with logs or charcoal, toss in the ores, turn it on, wait a few seconds, and the Copper Ingots will pop out.
These will unlock Copper tools, such as Copper Hatchet, which are way better than the crude ones, as well as Workbenches for armor and weapons.
With Copper Ingots, upgrade your Pickaxe and hit Iron spots in deeper deserts to open better gear for tougher zones in later stages of the game. In the meantime, do check how to add, invite, and join multiplayer friends in Hytale.
