How to get a bus or coach to London from Manchester for the Queen's funeral this weekend

People from across the nation are hoping to travel down to London for the Queen's funeral on Monday (19 September).

With trains on the West Coast Mainline expected to be busy all weekend someone people may instead want to opt for a cheaper alternative and get a coach.

There are Megabus and National Express services running all weekend with passengers able to get to the capital from Manchester in five hours direct or seven or eight hours with changes.

An overnight coach departs at 21:00 from Manchester Coach Station, on Chorlton Street on Sunday evening and arrives into London Victoria at 05:50. Victoria station is closer to Westminster Abbey, around a 15 minute walk.

The coach on Sunday afternoon will be a longer journey, with the average coach time clocking in at around 5 hours and 30 minutes. However, coach tickets are significantly cheaper, with the National Express service departing at 14:30 from Manchester Coach Station, on Chorlton Street on Sunday afternoon and arrives into London Victoria at 19:55, and tickets costing £34.90.

The cheapest coach tickets are £12.90, for the service departing at 13:00 and arriving at Victoria at 18:20. All services are expected to busy as people travel from all over the country to attend the funeral, so people should leave plenty of time for their journeys and expect potential delays on public transport when they arrive.

To see the latest coaches to London check the National Express or Megabus website.
