Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a maze of corridors and secret rooms, but one room in particular can be impossible to find. In Hogwarts Legacy, the Room of Requirement is a crucial space to take a break, gather your thoughts, and sort your gear before embarking on the next quest.
It is the player’s private room and is used to grow plants, brew potions, identify gear, and even keep animals. The Room of Requirement only reveals itself to those who really need it, and its size and appearance change to the suit the seeker’s needs.
Harry Potter fans will be all too familiar with the room since its first appearance in Order of the Phoenix, when the young wizard and his fellow students used it as a safe space to practice spells. So Hogwarts Legacy players may be eager to find the room and discover all it has to offer, but where in Hogwarts is it?

Players cannot immediately access the Room of Requirement, and must progress through the story by completing a series of main quests. Players must reach the twenty-first main quest in Hogwarts Legacy to unlock the room and the aptly named Room of Requirement quest.
It is unlocked after completing the Flying Class and In the Shadow of the Undercroft quests. The Room of Requirement quest is then triggered after the player receives owl mail from Deputy Headmistress Weasley asking the player to meet her.
After travelling to the meeting point in the Astronomy Tower, the player accidentally reveals the Room of Requirement while waiting for her to arrive. After entering with Weasley and making their way through the cluttered room, players will meet Deek the House-elf, and will be instructed to focus on what they need the room for so it can transform to suit their needs.

During this quest, Weasley will also teach the player three spells that are crucial to altering the appearance of the room:
- Conjuring Spell: Conjures items like decorations – including furniture and statues – or brewing and potting stations to craft potions and plants.
- Altering Spell: Alters the shape, colour, and size of a conjured item.
- Evanesco: Removes items from the Room of Requirement and harvests them into Moonstones.
After learning these spells, players will also be able to alter the ambiance of the room by interacting with Deek. He will provide several options to choose from and will make the change himself.
Players can choose:
- A cool moonlit ambiance.
- Something natural and earthy.
- Dark and mysterious.
Whichever option players choose is purely cosmetic and is based on personal preference. The ambiance can be changed again at any time by talking to Deek inside the room.
Finally, the Room of Requirement has its own Floo Flame, so players can fast-travel back there any time without getting lost in Hogwarts’ maze of corridors. To access the Floo Flame, open the Map and hover over the Secret Rooms option under the Floo Flames Locations on the left corner to travel to the Room of Requirement.
