How to Celebrate Valentine’s Day With Your Pets

It's Valentine's Day! Couples are busy preparing to make the special day even more special for their loved ones. When a group of people is planning to celebrate Valentine's Day with their partners, some are planning to make a different choice this year. A date with their pet! Yeah, you heard it right. According to the American Pet Products Association, pet owners spend more money every year to purchase treats, toys, and experiences for their pets on Valentine's Day, too. So, what's your plan? Here are 5 ideas to make Valentine's Day special with your pet.

How about a pet-friendly dinner date?

You don't have to miss any fun on Valentine's Day just because you want to include your pet in it. Why not make a dinner reservation in a pet-friendly restaurant and take your pet along? If you don't prefer to go out, why not have a date night at home with a special meal? Prepare a comfort meal for yourself and a safe, pet-friendly one for your dear animal. Make sure you avoid chocolate, grapes, onions, and artificial sweeteners in their food.

Why not make some Valentine's special treats and toys?

Go a bit creative and try some crafting. Bake a heart-shaped dog biscuit or freeze tuna-infused ice cubes for the car. For toys, make a braided tug toy from your old t-shirt or sew a small heart-shaped plush filled with catnip.

A photoshoot

Why don't you dress up and have a themed photoshoot with your pet? Set up a simple backdrop, and have heart cutouts and some balloons. Along with your makeover, dress your pet also with a festive bandana or bow tie. Take snaps and make it memorable.

A bit of social work?

On Valentine's Day, you can consider donating food, blankets, or funds to a local animal shelter. You can also volunteer your time; whether it's to walk a dog or help in an adoption drive, all these can make a meaningful difference in your life.
