How to build a Fully Functional Fabricator in Subnautica 2

The Fabricator is essentially the heart of your progression in Subnautica 2. It allows you to craft tools, resources, survival equipment, and eventually more advanced technology.

Without a Fully Functional Fabricator, progression becomes extremely slow, especially once you begin exploring dangerous mid and late-game biomes. The basic Lifepod Fabricator that you use first is limited and cannot craft prepared meals or several advanced components needed for stronger tools and upgrades, making a proper base Fabricator essential for long-term survival.

Here’s everything you need to know about building a fully functional Fabricator in Subnautica 2.

Before you can build a Fully Functional Fabricator in Subnautica 2, you’ll first need to create a base using the Habitat Builder tool. After unlocking its blueprint, craft the Habitat Builder through your Lifepod Fabricator and use it to place your first base module.

Once the base is ready, open the Habitat Builder menu and place a Fabricator inside the structure. Building it requires:

  • One Copper
  • One Titanium
  • One Quartz

After placing the Fabricator and connecting your base to a power source, it becomes fully operational and unlocks access to advanced crafting options unavailable in the starting Lifepod version.

There are several ways to power your Fabricator in Subnautica 2, but the easiest early-game option is using Solar Panels. They provide enough energy to keep a small starter base and Fabricator running during the daytime.

The downside is that Solar Panels only generate electricity while the sun is out, meaning your base can lose power at night. To keep your Fabricator running consistently, you’ll eventually need a more reliable power source like a Bioreactor. Bioreactors generate energy by consuming organic materials such as fish, plants, and other biological resources, allowing your base and Fabricator to stay powered even during nighttime.

Once you reach the mid-game, you can unlock more advanced power sources like the Hydroelectric Turbine, which provides a steady and reliable energy supply for larger bases.
