How the world learned of Queen's death as TV anchors broke sad news live on air

Queen Elizabeth's death was announced on TV channels simultaneously across the world today.

The monarch passed away today at the age of 96, a statement by Buckingham Palace confirmed around 6.30pm this evening. Key members of the Royal Family had rushed to be by her side including King Charles III, his wife, Camilla, Queen Consort, as well as Prince William, Prince Harry, Anne, Princess Royal, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward amongst others.

The world found out about the Queen's passing, as terrestrial channels stopped their rolling news coverage to bring the news of the monarch's passing. Other TV channels, including those from abroad, too, stopped their broadcasts to remember the Queen.
