Lewis Gibson
Unfortunately for Lewis Gibson, injuries really hampered his season and stopped him from really making an impact in his latest loan spell. This time with Sheffield Wednesday after struggling with Reading last year, the majority of the term was spent on the sidelines for the centre-back.
He made five League One appearances throughout the campaign, amounting to about 250 minutes on the pitch. He signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with the club in January 2020, but the Blues do have the option of extending that deal if they see fit.
Perhaps he might be one to keep an eye on over the course of the coming transfer window.

Nathan Broadhead
There might have been some injuries involved in Nathan Broadhead's short-term spell at Sunderland, but that didn't stop him becoming a fan favourite quickly. His 10 goals in 20 League One appearances helped the Black Cats into the playoffs, before they eventually secured promotion at Wembley.
There are already reports that the Wearside club may be interested in a permanent switch for the forward, who signed a new deal with the Blues last summer. In a recent interview he maintained that he is focused primarily on getting back to full fitness in the summer, but it may be interesting to see where his long-term future lies.
Joao Virginia
Joao Virginia's loan to Sporting CP has offered him some interesting opportunities, including a Champions League debut back in December where he was unable to prevent a 4-2 loss for his side. Over the course of eight appearances in all competitions, however, he only conceded seven goals and kept four clean sheets in that spell.
The young shot stopper was primarily on the bench throughout the league campaign but did make one appearance at the end of the term. Again rumours are already swirling that a permanent move to his home country might be on the cards for the Portugal youth international, who has two years left to run on his current deal at Everton.
Moise Kean
There may be an obligation to buy at the end of Moise Kean's two-year stint at Juventus, but he still counts as a loan player for now. The striker made 42 appearances across all competitions for the Italian giants in 2021/22, scoring six goals and claiming three assists.
Regarding his long-term future, it certainly won't be at Goodison Park. Rumours remain that Juventus might want to offload the Italy international, but that would involve them buying him on a permanent deal from the Blues early.
Niels Nkounkou
There was maybe some surprise that Niels Nkounkou was allowed to leave on loan as it left Everton short on natural left-backs throughout the squad. He became a regular figure for Standard Liege making 22 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League, but it was a disappointing campaign in general for the Belgian side.
Returning to Everton, the 21-year-old has already been back watching the club as they finished their campaign in dramatic fashion, travelling to Leicester City to see a 2-1 win for the Blues. Lampard will need back-up and competition for Vitalii Mykolenko, and Nkounkou could well provide that.
Ellis Simms
Following what was a successful spell at Blackpool last season, this time it was a loan in Scotland for Ellis Simms to impress. He did just that, scoring seven goals in 21 appearances for his temporary side while helping them to the final of the Scottish Cup.
Back in November the striker put pen to paper on a contract to keep him at Goodison Park until June 2024. However, it will be interesting to see what his immediate future holds at the very least.
The striker has been open about seeing what the future holds in recent interviews, so whether that be a loan move or otherwise he will certainly be on the hunt for first-team minutes.
Lewis Warrington
Another one to file in the 'success' pile. Lewis Warrington had already been impressing for Everton's under-23s by the time he secured a temporary switch to Tranmere Rovers in January.
He quickly became a regular starter for the League Two side and settled right into his senior surroundings for the first time in his career. He scored one goal and claimed two assists in 17 appearances before returning to the Blues.
His contract situation was somewhat up in the air over the course of recent months. However, on Wednesday, Everton announced that he had signed a two-year deal - and his aims now are to potentially impress Lampard and try to step up to the first team.
Jean-Philippe Gbamin
Picking up regular minutes was absolutely the aim for Jean-Philippe Gbamin, alongside keeping himself injury-free for a sustained amount of time. In that sense, you have to say that his loan to CSKA Moscow was a roaring success.
The only league match he missed during his spell was a suspension for yellow cards as he racked up 13 appearances in all competitions, completing 90 minutes in the majority of those games.
Lampard will no doubt want a look at the defensive midfielder before any decision on his future is made, but this is certainly the most fit that he has been since he arrived at Everton in the summer of 2019.
