How the Celtic players rated as they defeat Rangers and win Scottish Cup

Celtic lifted the Scottish Cup and completed a double as Adam Idah's late goal was enough to see off Rangers at Hampden.

Here are how the Celtic players rated...

JOE HART 6

Did well under a couple of Tavernier corners swung in on top of him in first half, but looked to be caught under one as Sima prodded home. VAR saved the day though, showing that Davies had pushed the keeper. Bows out with another medal.

ALISTAIR JOHNSTON 6

Another tasty battle with Silva that swayed this way and that. Managed to limit the threat of the Portuguese more on this occasion, and got forward on few occasions with strong running.

LIAM SCALES 6

Carried the ball forward to good effect at times and made a brilliant block on a Dessers chance. Passing let him down on occasion, but defended well.

CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS 7

Great pick out for Maeda in first half to show his range of passing, and was solid in his defending against both Dessers and Sima. Vital touch away facing his own goal prevented late Rangers goal.

GREG TAYLOR 6

Had his hands full with physical challenge of Sterling and fought his corner gamely enough, even going looking for another scrap with Cantwell that brought a booking.

CALLUM MCGREGOR 7

As at Celtic Park recently, started to pick up pockets of space as first half wore on and dictated the play for a spell. Picked up game’s first yellow for trip on Cantwell, and was quieter after the break.

REO HATATE 5

Most notable aspect of his first half was the number of fouls he made, and he didn’t really influence the game in a more positive fashion after the interval either.

MATT O’RILEY 6

Wasn’t quite able to hit the sky-high standard he has set this season, and was actually fairly quiet overall. Looked a little tired towards the end too, but put in an almighty shift for his team.

DAIZEN MAEDA 7

As usual, gave Tavernier all sorts of problems with his running in behind. Got past the full back in first duel and had his number thereafter without really making the most of it. Bundle of energy working back too.

JAMES FORREST 6

Didn’t get as much joy out of Yilmaz as he had from Barisic at Celtic Park, but had a chance just after the interval that was blocked. Booked for wild lunge on Raskin before being replaced.

KYOGO FURUHASHI 5

Missed the sort of half chance he has made a career out of in the first half, and offered precious little else but honest endeavour until he was replaced by Idah on the hour.

SUBSTITUTES ADAM

IDAH 8

On for last half hour and had a thankless task for the most part as Celtic shelled balls up the pitch, but when his chance arrived, he was on hand to knock home the all-important winner and send the Celtic fans wild.

NICOLAS KUHN 5

On for last 20 minutes and worked hard without making too much of an attacking impact.

PAULO BERNARDO 7

Brilliant driving run and shot set up Celtic’s winner, as his swerving effort proved too hot for Butland to handle.
