How Taylor Swift directly influenced the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing

  • Actor Jaime Winstone revealed that a chance encounter with Taylor Swift at Poppy Delevingne's 40th birthday party helped convince her to sign up for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing .
  • Winstone explained that Swift praised how freely she danced, which, alongside a lyric from a new Madonna track, served as a clear sign to step out of her comfort zone of gritty dramas and into the ballroom.
  • The 40-year-old Made in Dagenham star is part of a 15-strong celebrity roster for the new series, which also features former Love Island contestant Dani Dyer, ex-footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips, and EastEnders actor Lacey Turner.
  • The series will feature a brand new hosting lineup of Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe following the departure of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman after 11 years at the helm.
  • A professional dancer shake-up sees five new faces joining the cast to replace departing fan favourites including Karen Hauer and Gorka Marquez, with the series launching on Saturday 19 September on BBC One and iPlayer.
