Craig Gordon 6 Left helpless as Egan made it 1-0. Made a terrific block to deny Parrott but was fortunate when he fired straight at Ogbene.
Aaron Hickey 6 Couldn’t pick up where he left off in an impressive showing against Ukraine. Few promising bursts but was replaced before the hour mark through injury.
Scott McKenna 6 Made a couple of timely blocks and held his own against Obafemi and Parrott. Booked for hauling down Ogbene.
Jack Hendry 7 Relatively few shaky moments defensively and biggest influence came at the other end as a brave run and excellent header brought Scotland level.
Kieran Tierney 4 Didn’t cause Ireland as many problems as expected. Took a blow to the head late in the first half and had to be replaced despite protesting with the Scotland physios.
Callum McGregor 6 Had to do better and clear his lines before Egan fired Ireland ahead. Uncharacteristically slack at times but put in a shift and tried to force the issue from midfield.
Scott McTominay 6 Strolled through the win over Ukraine but found the going tougher at times here. Couldn’t control the game in the same manner and late booking rules him out of the trip to Poland.
Stuart Armstrong 5 Guilty of missing chances in midweek but had few real opportunities here. Not at his best on a frustrating night.
John McGinn 6 Wore the armband once again as he made his 50th appearance for his country. Didn’t get going in a lacklustre first half but better after the break and relentless work rate was key.
Ryan Christie 8 Struggled to impose himself as an attacking force early on but provided a lovely cross for Hendry to make it 1-1. That set the tone for an improved showing after the break and cool penalty clinched the win.
Lyndon Dykes 5 Got the nod to start ahead of Adams after netting twice on Wednesday night but had little joy as Scotland couldn’t get the service to him often enough. Worked hard with no reward.
Substitutes:
Greg Taylor (for Tierney, 39) 6 Kept alert by a bright Irish forward line but was always looking to go forward. Proved he is an able deputy at left-back.
Anthony Ralston (for Hickey, 58) 4 Third choice at right-back but more than capable of playing a part. Solid showing off the bench.
Ryan Fraser (for Armstrong, 58) 6 Added a bit of impetus to Scotland at a crucial stage of the game. Could be in line to start next time out.
Che Adams (for Dykes, 84) 2 No super-sub showing from the striker late on.
Kenny McLean (for Christie, 84) 2 Helped Scotland see it out in the closing stages.
