The Boston Celtics lost their opener in Las Vegas Summer League, but Jordan Walsh and JD Davidson showed enough to hint they might see the floor for Boston next season. That won’t be enough for the Celtics’ current depth issues after trading away Marcus Smart and Grant Williams, but it’s a start. There are concerns about the roster, including uncertainty about point guard depth and the need for another experienced player.
Consolidating the roster by making a big move is one path that the Celtics may be planning to explore, as could be waiting for the free agent market to dry up to sign experienced players left without a home for the 2022-23 season for minimum deals.
CLNS Media’s Gary Washburn and Bobby Manning took a break from the Las Vegas Summer League action to talk it over.
