How quick-thinking shopkeeper trapped armed robber inside his shop

Jordan Peebles, armed with a kitchen knife, attempted to rob a shop in Riley Square, Coventry, on 24 December 2025.
Peebles assaulted a staff member and began filling a bag with items from behind the counter during the incident.
The quick-thinking shop worker, after leaving the premises, closed the shutter, effectively trapping Peebles inside the shop.
CCTV footage showed Peebles unsuccessfully trying to force his way out before police arrived and arrested him as he exited.
Peebles pleaded guilty to robbery at Warwick Crown Court and was subsequently sentenced to four years and four months in prison.
