How Paulo Dybala's Inter Milan move will affect Romelu Lukaku's potential Chelsea exit

Paulo Dybala’s potential move to Inter Milan could prevent Romelu Lukaku leaving Chelsea this summer, according to reports. It comes ahead of a huge decision over the future of the Belgian.

That is only less than one-year after Lukaku made the return to Stamford Bridge from the Nerazzurri in a deal worth roughly £100million. The 29-year-old has struggled since, scoring just eight Premier League goals last campaign.

Despite that, manager Thomas Tuchel has backed the striker to find his shooting boots again. “Romelu has scored goals all his life,” The German coach said. “It’s in his body and I tell him all the time to trust his body, trust his brain and to trust his instincts because he knows how to do it [finishing].

“He will never lose the ability to score goals, he just needs to rediscover that spark and hopefully after these two goals he can continue in this way. It’s always a good moment for a striker when they score goals and hopefully he can trust his instincts and score more for us.”

However, the upcoming transfer window will offer Tuchel a chance to stick or twist with some of his squad members. The attack is one area that could be considered for a revamp, given the difficulties to score.

Despite the fee paid, Lukaku could be one of the players involved in such a change, with reports suggesting that the forward is pushing for a move back to Inter. Though that could be impacted by other signings at the club.

Gianluca di Marzio reports that the Serie A club are pushing to sign Paulo Dybala on a free transfer from Juventus this summer. He adds that while they are continuing to discuss a move for Lukaku, they should only be able to complete one, not both moves.

It represents a potential blow to the Blues, given the complications of the deal due to the fee paid one-year ago. However, there are plenty of twists and turns left in the transfer market and it remains to be seen whether the situation will change yet again.
