How much prize money Rangers could earn in the Europa League

Rangers commence their Europa League campaign this midweek when Genk come to town.

The Belgians are matchday one opponents Russell Martin's side, who will be hoping to emulating the club's recent success in the competition.

Barry Ferguson helped continued the work of Philippe Clement last season, guiding Rangers to the quarter-final stage, where they would lose out to Athletic Bilbao.

This came just three years after the club narrowly lost out in the final of the 2022 edition of the tournament during Giovanni van Bronckhorst's tenure.

Prize money in the Champions League is the major pull to UEFA's top club competition.

However, the money available to the 36 Europa League clubs is not to be sniffed at either.

Here, we've broken down exactly what additional funds could be pocketed by Rangers depending on how well they do in their eight league phase matches to begin with.

Per league phase draw - £130,000

Top eight finish (automatic qualification for last-16) - £519,000

Finish between ninth and 16th (play-off qualification) - £260,000

Quarter-final: £2.2m
