How much petrol and diesel cost in other countries in Europe compare with the UK

Rising petrol and diesel prices are continuing to cause misery for motorists across Wales and the wider UK, with the cost of filling your tank reaching extraordinary levels. Motoring experts have said some families will have to cut their mileage or stop driving altogether as households are being squeezed in every direction due to the cost of living crisis.

We reported earlier this week how the average cost of a full tank of petrol for a typical 55-litre family car has exceeded £100 for the first time, according to figures from data firm Experian Catalist. The average price of a litre of petrol at UK forecourts reached a record 182.3p on Wednesday, according to the firm. The average price of a litre of diesel on Wednesday was a record 188.1p.

But how are other countries faring? With the aid of Cargopedia, we compared petrol and diesel prices elsewhere compared to the rates we are being forced to pay per litre in the United Kingdom, converting the price to the equivalent of the British pound.
