How much extra home owners face on mortgage bill as cash rate hits 15-year high

Canberrans could be paying more than $130 extra on their mortgage payments each month after the cash rate was lifted for the fourth time this year.

The cash rate is now 4.6 per cent, the highest it has been since November 2011.

For Canberra's home owners, who have already seen their mortgage payments rise 75 basis points over 2026, the latest increase translates to an average of $134 more each month.
