How Much Did Richard Sterne Win At The Soudal Open?

The DP World Tour's return to action after the PGA Championship took place at Rinkven International for the Soudal Open in Belgium.

Kristoffer Reitan won his first DP World Tour title here 12 months ago and has since gone on to achieve dual status with the PGA Tour as well as earning a second victory on the European-based circuit.

However, due to his efforts being concentrated in the USA this season, the Norwegian did not return to defend the Soudal Open trophy, leaving the door open for a new champion.

The eventual winner was Richard Sterne, but the South African certainly didn't look like taking the title at the 54-hole stage, trailing leader Zander Lombard by five.

A back-nine collapse from Lombard in the final round allowed Sterne to set the clubhouse target at 18 under, and that proved enough as he won by two for his first DP World Tour title since the 2013 Joburg Open.

Topping the leaderboard didn't just end Sterne's 13-year title drought. It also gave him $467,500 (€402,686) in prize money from the overall purse of $2.75 million.

Away from prize money payouts, there was a total of 3,500 Race To Dubai ranking points on offer to those who made the cut, with Sterne banking 677 to leap 124 places in the Race to Dubai rankings to 30th.

Sterne also moves up to second in the European Swing Rankings, with the winner at the end of the phase set for a $200,000 bonus payout.
