How Much Did Chris Gotterup Win At The WM Phoenix Open?

Chris Gotterup celebrates winning the Phoenix Open .

One of the most eagerly anticipated tournaments of the PGA Tour season was the WM Phoenix Open, with huge crowds and some of the world's best players competing at TPC Scottsdale.

Tens of thousands of fans walked through the gates to catch a glimpse of their favorite players and the pros involved responded by producing some world-class golf.

With the temperatures as high as expected for this time of year, the action was equally hot, with those who made the cut desperately trying to etch their name into the history books 12 months on from Thomas Detry's fantastic victory.

But, given the Belgian left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf during the off-season, we knew for certain that there would be a different player lifting the trophy.

In the thick of the battle during the final round were two players who had won the WM Phoenix Open twice before, Hideki Matsuyama and Scottie Scheffler, while the likes of Si Woo Kim, Michael Thorbjornsen and Chris Gotterup were also in contention over the closing holes.

Heading to the 18th, Matsuyama had it in his hands, just needing par to lift the trophy. However, he made hard work of it, eventually only managing a bogey to send him and Gotterup into a playoff.

In the end, it only needed one extra hole for Gotterup to seal victory, making a brilliant birdie putt after Matsuyama found the water with his tee shot to add to his Sony Open in Hawaii title, which he claimed in January.

That not only gave him his fourth PGA Tour win and the iconic trophy, but also an increased prize money payout from 2025.

In 2025, Detry banked $1.65 million from a total of $9.2 million. However, 2026's total went up by $400,000 overall, with Gotterup collecting a payout of $1.728 million before taxes and other takeaways reduce the amount they really see.

The $9.6 million overall payout has plenty of change left for everyone else who made the cut, too, with just over $1 million heading the way of Matsuyama.

Below is what each player who made the cut won at the 2026 WM Phoenix Open.
