UK tourist tax: Where will it be introduced and how much will it cost?

Mayors in England will be given the power to introduce an overnight visitor levy on tourists under plans being announced by the government.

It’s something you might have spotted in Paris, Barcelona or Amsterdam: an extra fee, added to your nightly accommodation bill. The taxes are typically collected by hotels or rental properties on behalf of a local authority, and are usually reinvested into the city’s resources.
