How migration is reshaping the political debate in Spain's Ceuta

More than two months after over 70,000 migrants entered Ceuta from neighbouring Morocco on July 30 and 31, the crisis continues to shape political debate in the Spanish enclave ahead of next month's election.

Some residents say the government's response has influenced their voting intentions, while others are calling for a tougher stance on migration. Esperanza Ansede, a teacher who previously voted for Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's Socialists, says she now plans to vote for the centre-right Popular Party. Gema Miralles, a beautician who identifies with the right, says she wants right-wing parties to take a tougher stance on migration, particularly in Ceuta.
