How many minutes Tottenham players have played in pre-season and what it could mean vs Roma

Tottenham have one more pre-season friendly on the agenda before the 2022/23 Premier League season commences. Departing South Korea with a 6-3 win over Team K League and a 1-1 draw against La Liga side Sevilla, the Lilywhites ensured they remain undefeated this summer with a 2-1 win over Rangers last weekend.

Going into the break trailing 1-0 after Antonio Colak's opener despite Spurs squandering chance after chance, a double from Harry Kane meant they secured victory at Ibrox. The game saw a number of Tottenham debutants, with new arrivals Fraser Forster, Djed Spence, Clement Lenglet, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma all playing for the first time after not featuring in South Korea.

Head coach Antonio Conte has been keen to hand out a good amount of minutes to his Tottenham squad across all three games, using a total of 30 players so far this summer. But who has played the most amount of minutes and what could this mean ahead of Saturday's friendly vs Roma in Israel?

Tottenham players' playing time on pre-season so far:

Goalkeepers

Hugo Lloris

Games played: Three

Starts: Two

Minutes played: 188

Brandon Austin

Games played: Two

Starts: One

Minutes played: 63

Fraser Forster

Games played: One

Starts: None

Minutes played: 19

It comes as no surprise to see Lloris play the most amount of minutes so far, having started two of the three games. He'll more than likely get the nod against the Italian side but Forster could be given some pitch time after only featuring once so far due to Covid.

Centre-backs

Eric Dier

Games played: Three

Starts: Three

Minutes played: 232

Davinson Sanchez

Games played: Three

Starts: Three

Minutes played: 192

Cristian Romero

Games played: Three

Starts: Three

Minutes played: 172

Japhet Tanganga

Games played: Three

Starts: None

Minutes played: 98

Ben Davies

Games played: One

Starts: None

Minutes played: 40

Joe Rodon

Games played: One

Starts: None

Minutes played: 24

Clement Lenglet

Games played: One

Starts: None

Minutes played: 19

Malachi Fagan-Walcott

Games played: Two

Starts: None

Minutes played: 19

Charlie Sayers

Games played: One

Starts: None

Minutes played: 14

Conte has kept things very strong at the back in the games with Dier, Romero and Sanchez starting all three. Injury has so far restricted Davies' playing time, with Rodon and Lenglet only playing at Rangers after missing the Korea trip. All three would certainly benefit from a starting spot this weekend if the boss opts to rotate.

Wing-backs

Ryan Sessegnon

Games played: Three

Starts: Three

Minutes played: 150

Emerson Royal

Games played: Three

Starts: Two

Minutes played: 138

Matt Doherty

Games played: Two

Starts: None

Minutes played: 90

Ivan Perisic

Games played: One

Starts: None

Minutes played: 30

Djed Spence

Games played: One

Starts: None

Minutes played: 19

Both Sessegnon and Emerson have featured regularly in pre-season so far, with Lucas Moura also utilised as a wing-back in all three games. It was a surprise that Doherty didn't play at all in Glasgow, so he, as well as Spence and Perisic, could really do with a decent run in the side against Roma as the new campaign is almost upon us.

Central midfielders

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Games played: Three

Starts: Two

Minutes played: 199

Rodrigo Bentancur

Games played: Three

Starts: Two

Minutes played: 135

Oliver Skipp

Games played: Two

Starts: Two

Minutes played: 90

Pape Matar Sarr

Games played: Three

Starts: None

Minutes played: 71

Yves Bissouma

Games played: One

Starts: None

Minutes played: 45

Harvey White

Games played: One

Starts: None

Minutes played: 14

Tottenham fans have been looking forward to watching Bissouma in pre-season action after his move from Brighton but Covid put a stop to him playing in South Korea. Playing the second half against Rangers, the Mali international needs to up his minutes against Roma to put himself in the best position for a starting spot against Southampton.

Skipp also requires pitch time after missing out with a foot injury in Glasgow, while Sarr would also benefit from another opportunity to impress Conte before the club make a decision over what comes next for him.

Attackers

Harry Kane

Games played: Three

Starts: Two

Minutes played: 188

Son Heung-min

Games played: Three

Starts: Two

Minutes played: 185

Lucas Moura

Games played: Three

Starts: Two

Minutes played: 166

Richarlison

Games played: Three

Starts: Two

Minutes played: 151

Dejan Kulusevski

Games played: Two

Starts: One

Minutes played: 105

Bryan Gil

Games played: Three

Starts: One

Minutes played: 82

Troy Parrott

Games played: Two

Starts: None

Minutes played: 32

Tottenham's attackers have all had a good amount of time on the pitch in all three games, with new signing Richarlison starting the first two and getting 30 minutes vs Rangers. As the Brazilian is suspended for the Southampton opener, a start against Roma would do him the world of good and the same goes for Kulusevski after only playing in two of the three fixtures so far.
