Pep Guardiola told his Manchester City players to ask themselves whether they wanted to play against Inter Milan when they went out against Real Madrid.
The Italian side were awaiting the winners of the second Champions League semi-final, and Guardiola's side blew away their opponents 4-0 at the Etihad to emphatically book their trip to Istanbul next month. A performance and result that will go down as one of the best by an English side in the competition also equalled the worst defeat Real have suffered in the knockout rounds of this competition.
Guardiola was delighted with the way that his side played, and happy with how they responded to the question that was put to them before the match. As they were waiting to go out onto the pitch, the squad had their desire to reach the final questioned.

"We spoke just before we went to the pitch and said do you want to play against Inter or not? Ask yourself," said Guardiola.
"If you play 90 minutes playing thinking that you want to play against Inter you are going to beat Real Madrid. In the bad moments, if you want to play against Inter, you are going to win the game. And they played in that spirit that we needed."
