If early previews and trailers are anything to go by, Resident Evil Requiem seems to balance action and survival horror through its two playable protagonists’ very distinct playstyles.
However, while Leon and Grace play differently, and their paths only intertwine at specific story junctions, they don’t get separate campaigns, like several mainline Resident Evil titles. And if you’re wondering how long a single playthrough of their combined scenarios would take in Resident Evil Requiem, the answer isn’t concrete, but there’s plenty to be said about it.
Resident Evil Requiem game length explained

Resident Evil Requiem should take 10-16 hours to beat on average, with completionist runs taking well over 40 hours, according to multiple sources. It’s a standard playtime for most modern Resident Evil titles, including recent entries RE 4 and RE Village.
Interestingly, notable Resident Evil analyst and leaker, Dusk Golem, suggests Resident Evil Requiem is longer than Village but shorter than Resident Evil 4. Golem has also indicated that Leon and Grace’s screentime is 50/50, and 45/55 at worst, in Requiem.
It’s worth noting that game producer Masato Kumazawa had previously compared Requiem’s runtime to 2023’s Resident Evil 4 remake, which is one of the longest entries in the franchise.
For reference, a completionist playthrough of RE 4 remake could take roughly 64 hours, whereas an average playthrough could take 22 hours, according to howlongtobeat. Likewise, a completionist playthrough of Resident Evil Village could take over 38 hours, whereas an average playthrough could take 13 hours.
Spoiler warning for Resident Evil Requiem trophies

Resident Evil Requiem’s trophy list has leaked, and it gives a more realistic estimate of the game’s length. There is a trophy named ‘Speed Demon’ that requires you to “complete the main story by releasing Elpis within four hours.”
Most Resident Evil games include speedrun trophies, but the numbers vary slightly. RE 4 remake’s ‘Sprinter’ trophy requires you to finish the game within 8 hours. Likewise, RE Village’s ‘Dashing Dad’ trophy requires you to conclude Ethan’s story within 3 hours–that’s surprisingly low!
This is further indication that Requiem might be longer than Village but shorter than RE 4 remake.
It’s worth noting that the in-game timer in these games works differently from actual time. For instance, my Resident Evil Village hardcore playthrough took 10 hours, according to the in-game typewriter. However, in reality, it took about 25 hours to beat, as recorded by the PlayStation clock. Presumably, the in-game timer doesn’t track the time you spend in inventories, navigating menus, and retrying boss encounters. Hence, your Resident Evil Requiem playtime may vary drastically from someone else’s.
Another thing to note, according to Dusk Golem, is that Capcom might have only shown only 5% of the full game through trailers, screenshots, and previews. As such, expect plenty more locations to explore and enemies to bash!
