Hogwarts Legacy is finally getting into players’ hands thanks to the early access period, and with the New Zealand trick to get the game early. Whether you’re looking to spend entire days exploring Hogwarts or have limited time to play games, you’ll want to know how big of a commitment you’re settling in for, so we’ll tell you just how long this open-world RPG will last.
How long is Hogwarts Legacy?
The in-game timer in Hogwarts Legacy is a little deceptive, as it pauses whenever you’re in your menu adjusting gear or checking quests. We pushed through the main quest doing some, but not all, side quests and the in-game timer read 21 hours, but in actuality, it was closer to 27 hours of real-time.
There are a total of 44 main story missions, which involve talking to various characters at different times of day and doing all sorts of tasks. If you’re to include all of the side quests and options tasks that you can complete, you’re looking at roughly 50 hours of content.
Hogwarts Legacy post-game content
Once you’re all done with the main story, there are still a few more tasks to complete. You’ll get given two more quests that wrap things up. First, you’ll need to “Prepare for your O.W.L.S.” which involves talking to Professor Weasley to wrap up your studies, as well as going out and completing your Field Guide.
That last task in particular have you tracking down over 150 pages for the field guide, which is certainly no small task. That alone could ramp up the hours if you dedicate yourself to seeking them out.
There is also one final mission that asks you to end things in traditional Harry Potter fashion: “The House Cup”. You’ll get to attend the end-of-year feast in the Great Hall and see who won in the annual points competition between the four Hogwarts houses.
