The New York Jets took the lead and win in their Week 2 outing against the Tennessee Titans thanks to Breece Hall and the running back calling his shot.
The Jets (1-1) went up 14-10 against the Titans (0-2) in the eventual 24-17 final. On that third quarter play, New York quarterback Aaron Rodgers connected on an impressive 26-yard score with Hall.
Following the contest, Rodgers broke it down and essentially revealed that Hall went full “Babe Ruth.” The Jets had called a timeout prior to the play, allowing for the moment to unfold.
“Breece comes over and goes, ‘Hey throw me a go ball if there’s a backer out there.’ I said, ‘OK,'” Rodgers said with a laugh. “That’s basically how it went.”
Hall went on to confirm that’s how it went down.
“I always tell him if I’m out there against a linebacker, throw me the ball,” Hall told reporters. “It’s cool to be on the same page and for him to have that trust in me.”
The pass was one of two touchdown throws for Rodgers in the win. Hall ended up grabbing seven total catches for 62 yards in Tennessee.
Rodgers’ full breakdown on the discussion with Hall on the field can be found in the SNY clip below:
“I screwed up the clock and we called a timeout. And Breece comes over and goes, ‘”Hey throw me a go ball if there’s a backer out there.’ .. and that’s basically how it went.”
