There are last-minute Christmas decorations – and then there are those that can transform a room in seconds. The latter is thankfully the case with Jennifer Lopez's kitchen garland.
We may have already penned a love letter to the timeless gold Christmas tree seen in Jennifer and Ben Affleck's entryway, but the singer has shown yet another corner of their abode – this time in the shape of their kitchen. Here is where the last-minute Christmas decor inspiration comes into play.
Jennifer exhibits a twist on the traditional Christmas garland – the holiday classic that's often placed on staircases, mantels, and trees. However, JLo has placed her garland around her glass door, reminding us just how versatile the garland can be.
Recreating the look is refreshingly simple – all we need is a large garland (or multiple smaller garlands) to stretch over the top of our kitchen windows and doors.
Jennifer opted for a traditional, natural-hued piece with gold fairy lights (for a modern twist), but replicating the look is quick and easy with all garlands. It's unsurprising, therefore, that kitchen experts encourage us to follow suit.
Adrian Heaton, the head of design at Howdens, recommends placing both fairy lights and garlands around little-used areas in the kitchen – including the space between our wall cabinets and the ceiling.
'You could also look to utilize the space between your kitchen cabinets and the ceiling by placing fairy lights along the top of the cabinets. These are great for setting the mood for a night in with hot cocoa, or even for a bit of fizz with friends, as fairy lights always help a space to have a warm, inviting glow,' he says.
'Also, consider garlands or wreaths around the kitchen too; the chimney breast or on top of wall units with the lights on are great locations to add them if you can.'
And Adrian isn't the only kitchen designer who encourages us to follow Jennifer's lead. The design specialists at Magnet emphasize that Jennifer's look is one of the easiest last-minute Christmas decor quirks we can try, even if it is only a few hours until the big day.
'Hanging faux (or real) greenery to the frame of your windows brings nature into your kitchen and creates a cozy aesthetic,' they say.
'You can add fairy lights, pine cones, berries, or eucalyptus leaves to highlight further and fill out the feature. If you do not have any suitable windows to work with, you can attach garlands to the top of wall cabinets or doorways for a similar effect.'
We love these garlands that will impress wherever we hang them. However, we will need to be quick ordering to ensure we get them for Christmas day.
