Following a loss to the Denver Broncos that included a second-half collapse by the offense, how far did the Indianapolis Colts fall in ESPN’s Week 16 power rankings?
It’s probably not as far as you might guess, given the performance.
After their Week 13 win over New England, the Colts climbed to No. 18 in these rankings, which was their highest spot on that list since Week 1.
Over the course of the season, Indianapolis has been anywhere from No. 18 all the way down to No. 28 and just about everywhere in between.
After entering Week 15 at No. 20 in these rankings, the Colts dropped two spots heading into their Week 16 matchup, with Tennessee coming in at No. 22–dropping two spots.
Determining these rankings for ESPN are more than 80 writers, editors, and TV personalities evaluating each team’s performance and then ranking them from 1-32.
While this past Sunday’s game in Denver was dubbed a must-win by the Colts for many, they are still mathematically in the playoff race, despite being 6-8 on the season.
However, while still alive, that doesn’t mean that it’s likely. According to NFL.com, the Colts’ playoff odds sit at only 10 percent and it’s going to require a lot of help from the Los Angeles Chargers, along with the Colts obviously winning games.
As already alluded to, the Colts will face the 3-11 Tennessee Titans in Week 16 at home. The Titans checked in at No. 29 in ESPN’s power rankings this week.
