Erik ten Hag guided Ajax to a sixth straight Eredivisie win in his first game in the dugout since he was announced as Manchester United’s next manager.
Substitute Brian Brobbey netted two minutes from time to hand the visitors all three points away at NEC Nijmegen. The win comes after Ajax lost in the Dutch Cup final to PSV on Sunday.
Ten Hag is going for a third successive title with Ajax after the 2019/20 season was abandoned amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The Amsterdam side currently lead the table by seven points having played a game more than nearest challengers PSV.

He’s completed the league-and-cup double on the previous two occasions he lifted the title but Sunday’s loss means it won’t be third time lucky. After his unveiling as United boss on Thursday, Ten Hag underlined his commitment to Ajax within a club statement.
He said: “I only have one interest now and that's these last five games. I want to finish my time here on a positive note, by winning the league. By doing so, we'll qualify directly for the Champions League. Ajax belongs there."
