It is evident that the decision of Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets to mend fences and move on with a focus on winning basketball for the 2022-23 NBA season means that there will be no trade of Boston Celtics star wing Jaylen Brown (or anyone else on the roster) for Durant in at least the short term. What it means for the Celtics, however, in terms of the lay of the land in the league’s Eastern Conference is a topic in need of investigation.
How will KD returning to Brooklyn affect the order of the East? Will they be among the true contenders of the conference? Could the stink of the trade request and other elements of instability creep into the play of the Nets? And could the trade requests fire back up again if the team gets off to a poor start?
The hosts of NBC Sports Boston’s “The Daily Thread” show Amina Smith and Chris Forsberg were recently joined by Celtics broadcaster and champion forward Cedric Maxwell and DJ Bean to break down exactly this question.
