Rishi Sunak is up against Liz Truss as the pair battle it out to become leader of the Tory party and the UK's next Prime Minister.
As tensions heat up in the leadership race, Truss has agreed to take questions in front of a live audience on GB News today at 5pm (August 10).
Sunak has come up against criticism by the public and leadership rivals.
Questions still arise as to how a multi-millionaire can understand the needs of the British public during a cost of living crisis.
Rishi, wealthy from before he entered politics, has married into one of the world's richest dynasties.
His wife, Akshata Murthy, reportedly has more money than the Queen's personal fortune.
But how did they first meet? We take a look at their Californian romance and lavish houses across the UK and holiday home in the US.
How did Rishi Sunak meet his wife?
Rishi Sunak met his wife, Akshata Murthy, studying at Stanford University in California, USA.
The married couple were both on same course at the American university – Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Akshata had already studied previously, and received a diploma in fashion design.
Putting her qualifications together, she now runs her design business – Akshata Designs, which has found her further success and a Vogue India photoshoot.
How much is Rishi Sunak's wife worth?
Akshata Murthy is reportedly worth around £500million - which is more than the Queen's personal fortune.
Most of the money comes from shares in her father's technology company, Infosys.
The IT business has recently had an office in Moscow, with many people questioning their presence in Russia in light of recent events.
Rishi himself is reportedly worth £200million, bringing the family net worth up to nearly three-quarters of a billion pounds.
Where does Rishi Sunak live?
The former chancellor, now running for Prime Minister, owns four properties including a Central London flat he lives in, close to Downing Street.
His family home is a £7million house in Kensington where he lives with Akshata and their two children, Krishna and Anoushka.
Rishi, who will hope to be moving into 10 Downing Street, also owns a Georgian mansion in Yorkshire.
The house is set on a 12-acre plot of land near Northallerton and is thought to cost around £1.5million.
It was recently given planning approval to have tennis courts and a swimming pool added to the grounds.
The family's fourth house is located in California, where Sunak and Murthy first met.
Their Stateside residence is worth £5.5million and based in Santa Monica.
The flat is said to boast sweeping views of the world-famous Santa Monica pier and the Pacific ocean beyond.
According to the Guardian, there is even a pet spa where residents’ “furry companions can get pampered”.
Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss are still jostling for position at the top of the Tory Government. The new Prime Minister should be announced September 5.
