The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow in some parts of the UK this week. The weather agency says Scotland could see some snow showers on Wednesday as temperatures begin to drop.
North Scotland could see 2-5cm of snow on the lower levels, with 5-10cm above 200 metres. Some drifting and blizzard conditions could be seen with the strong northerly winds.
But temperatures are expected to drop across the UK, including Wales. The Met Office weather forecast for Wales over the next few days says: "On Monday, generally cloudy skies during the morning with a few light showers. The cloud may break at times during the afternoon, allowing some brief sunny intervals. Feeling somewhat less cold. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
"From Tuesday to Thursday, mainly dry with much brighter skies than on previous days and some sunshine for most. Isolated showers, these turning wintry by Thursday. Cardiff
Cardiff is often one of the warmer areas of Wales, and with that temperatures won't drop as low in the city this week compared to some parts of Wales. It is expected to be around 7°C on Monday and Tuesday, with night-time temps dropping to 5°C on Monday night and 3°C on Tuesday night.
A colder start to the day on Wednesday with 5°C, and the night-time temp will drop again to 1°C. The overcast skies are set to break from Thursday through to Sunday, with daytime temps hitting around 5°C. It is set to drop below 0°C on Thursday night to -1°C, before picking back up to 1°C on Friday and Saturday.
Merthyr Tydfil
Higher up in Merthyr Tydfil, people will feel the colder temperatures come in. Monday is set to be around 6°C in the daytime before dropping to 3°C at night. By Tuesday, that night-time temperature will hit 0°C, with a colder day of 5°C. Skies will be overcast on both days.
Through to Wednesday, things will clear up a bit, but with that will come colder temperatures, at 4°C in the day dropping to -3°C at night. The decline in temp will continue in the latter end of the week, with a 3°C day set for Thursday - Saturday, with night-time temperatures fluctuating between -5°C and -3°C. It is set to be a sunny day on Saturday.
Swansea
Swansea is set for overcast skies from Monday to Wednesday, with temperatures starting off at 7°C at the beginning of the week before dropping down to 6°C on Wednesday and eventually hitting 5°C on Thursday and Friday as the clouds clear for some sunshine. Night-time temps will get as low as -2°C on Thursday night before gradually picking up to -1°C Friday night and 1°C Saturday night.
Aberystwyth
The seaside town will see a warmer start on Monday with temperatures expected to be around 8°C before dropping to 4°C at night. The overcast skies will clear by Thursday, where temps will be around 5°C but drop to -2°C at night. Sunny spells expected through Friday-Saturday with temperatures sticking around 5°C in the day and -1°C at night.
Bangor
An overcast week set for Bangor with temperatures starting off at 7°C Monday to Tuesday, before dropping to 4°C at night. On Wednesday it will get a little bit colder with temps dropping to 6°C during the day and 2°C at night. Thursday will also see another drop to 5°C and 0°C at night, with the temperature expected to remain around this through to Sunday.
Newport
On Monday Newport will see temperatures of 7°C during the day, dropping to 5°C at night. It is set to be overcast until Wednesday with temperatures gradually declining. Tuesday will see temperatures around 6°C, dropping to 2°C at night. Wednesday will hit around 5°C dropping to -1°C at night.
Thursday and Friday are set to be colder with temperatures around 4°C during the day and -2/-1°C at night.
Builth Wells
In Builth Wells on Monday temperatures will lie around the 6°C mark before halving to 3°C at night time. Tuesday temps will hit around 5°C dropping to -2°C. The overcast skies are set to clear up by Thursday where it will drop to 3°C during the day and -3°C at night. Friday through to Saturday temperatures will remain around 3°C during the day and -2°C at night.
