How Claire Dubbelman became the first woman with an FIA race director superlicence

Claire Dubbelman's love for motorsport started at an early age, thanks to her father Huub, who spent almost two decades in automotive journalism before working as a PR manager for brands, including Mercedes-Benz Netherlands. Dubbelman was five years old when she began watching Formula 1 in the early 1990s. "From the time I was little, my father would wake me up - at my own request, of course - to watch Formula 1. Even for the Australian Grand Prix, which was traditionally the season opener back then, we would get up early to watch the race together.

"When I was about nine years old, I went with my father to Zandvoort for the Masters, which at the time was the event you had to attend. After that, we started going to Zandvoort more often, for events like the Easter Races and the Pentecost Races. A day at the track became our favourite day out."
