How can the NBA add a mid-season tournament that fans, players, and owners will support?

There has been a lot of talk about the NBA adding a midseason tournament, but the issue of how to get the Boston Celtics and the other 29 teams in the league on board with playing it has been something that has not had enough discussion or fleshing out by those in favor of such a novelty to the league calendar.

Will it shorten the season without hurting revenue? And what do the players get out of it if they participate? Most importantly, how will they capture the hearts and minds of fans who are very used to how the NBA has conducted business each season for several decades with only minor tweaks around the margins?

On the latest episode of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast, hosts Cameron Tabatabaie, Alex Goldberg, and Justin Quinn put their heads together to come up with some out-of-the-box ideas that might accomplish at least some of the above goals.
