How Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham can sign players after 11pm transfer deadline

With the transfer window drawing to a close, London clubs will be scrambling to complete some late transfer business, with clubs keen to bring in extra quality in order to plug gaps in their squads which have emerged during the opening weeks of the season.

There are plenty of moves expected to happen over the coming hours in the remainder of the transfer window. The domino effect which is caused by late business will inevitably mean that many deals will come to fruition with very little time to spare in the window.

At 11pm this evening, the transfer window will slam shut but there are still ways in which clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham can seal deals after the deadline with allowances being made for last minute business.

As long as a 'deal sheet' is sent in to the relevant governing bodies before the deadline, deals can still go through after the cut-off. The deal sheet then allows clubs to prove that a deal had been agreed between both clubs.

They are then granted 'extra time' to get the deal done - but this can only be submitted between 9-11pm. Should a deal sheet be submitted in this two-hour period, all the documentation must be fully completed in order for it to be allowed.

This is usually why many deals are confirmed up until 1am following deadline day, as clubs are granted an extra two hours to get everything finalised.
